Unused No More - A new challenge for 2025

Today starts a new challenge "invented" by our good friend, Barb!

Once a month, a group of us dig through our stash of crafty goods to find something that we have never used! It can be a stamp set, stencil, die, hot foil or press plate (or maybe something else) that you have not used yet—still new in the package or your storage choice.

Unfortunately, in my stash I never have to travel very far or look very hard. I have so many things that have not been used that I could more than likely make something every day, not repeating a product for at least a year. No kidding either. I am that bad.

For the first month I decided to look in the cases holding all of my old Stampin' Up! wood mounted stamps, as there are many sets unused. How sad.

I chose the stamp set "Happy Harmony". This must have been a hostess set or purchased during a special sale or event, as the rubber is purple.

Here is a picture of the entire set:

I also decided that since I was using an old stamp set from 2007, that I would use the tools from back then to create the card. Way before the MISTI, we had this tool:

I'd like to say that I enjoyed using this again....but that would be a lie. I thought it was going well, had everything lined up to stamp where I wanted to stamp, I inked up the stamp, got it into placed and stamped my sentiment....UPSIDE DOWN. LOL. So I had to start over.

Here is my card:

I used the TE oval mask stencil to ink blend the oval background in Confetti Cake ink then did some splatters in the same color. I removed the stencil and lined up the floral image with the Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped away. Next, lined up the sentiment and stamped that (a bit crooked, but fine).

I really like the concept of this challenge, and I may do it on my own more than once a month :-)

I am so happy to be doing this with a great group of ladies: Jeanette, LJ, Rebekah, Darlene, Angela, April, Carol, Shelly, Kathy and Barb! I can't wait to see what they all create! I'll link blogs next month, when I am more organized.

Until next time,

Terry

  3. Oh I so understand the upside down attempt! Those wood blocks can not be seen thru and we are spoiled now with so many fabulous clear sets!!

  4. Oh Terry- this is so pretty- may have to CASE it! And, I had to laugh about your upside sentiment- something I could see myself doing! Fun to get these stamp sets marked as used finally!

  5. Terry, this is such a classy card from a classic stamp set. AND LOOK AT THAT! I used to love using my stamp-a-ma-jig! You've brought back great memories of "the good old days" before clear stamps and Mistis.

  6. I really like your card, Terry. I'm chuckling in sympathy about stamping the sentiment upside down. Been there, done that...more than once. I think I still have my Stamp-a-ma-jig!

  7. Oh my goodness - it's years since I have see a stamp-a-ma-jig - I could never use it comfortable, and learnt to eyeball my favourite stamps, and I generally got them better than trying to use it.
Love your card - a wonderful result - eventually - oh the joys, I think we have all been there, done that!
    Blessings
